Similar fundraising or “friend raising” initiatives that are held in one state can be successful in any other state. ASFA has identified successful fundraising ideas from across the U.S. to: Maximize attendance and donations at galas using a fundraising technique; tailor events to engage alumni and increase donations; and generate support from the community while showcasing students’ artwork. If your foundation struggles with new ideas to bring in donors, this benefit may be just what your foundation needs.
To facilitate exclusive access to other members' contact information, ASFA provides all of its members with the proprietary list of names and contact information of all foundation members.
Every quarter ASFA invites a member foundation to be profiled. The profile primarily includes the foundation’s fundraising techniques and how its donations are used. These profiles can give your foundation valuable ideas on how to initiate fundraising and solicit donations in your community.
ASFA realizes that foundations need alternative sources of revenue. A list of 70+ grant opportunities is provided to members. ASFA continuously searches for more grant opportunities to add to this list. The eligibility requirements of these grants will differ depending on the grant provider. Why not try to get a piece of the billions of dollars that corporations give not-for-profit organizations?
This 15-page guide covers a variety of topics that are important to a foundation’s business practices, such as financial oversight, transparency, a fundraising policy, and a conflict of interest policy. Members have taken the Guide to their board retreats and/or conducted a side-by-side comparison of the Guide to their existing policies to ensure that they include Best Practices.
ASFA has compiled a list of law firms which offer pro-bono services to 501(c)(3) organizations. Many foundations are not aware that these services exist, but ASFA has identified the firms as a convenience to our member foundations. The law firms conduct pro-bono at their discretion, and ASFA does not guarantee that services will be provided.
ASFA provides bi-monthly newsletters which covers a variety of concise, foundation specific topics. Members have access to all newsletters.
ASFA offers retailer discounts between 5% and 70% that will benefit foundations when purchasing items for an event, ordering office supplies, setting up a website or enhancing your e-mail marketing efforts, and using a calling tree to communicate information to your constituents. We recognize the need for foundations to save money. When you save money on administrative costs, you may have more funds for student, teacher, and educational programs. Members have recouped their ASFA membership fee through these discounts!
To facilitate exclusive access to other state school boards contact information, ASFA provides all of its members with a list of names and contact information of all state school boards.
