Gov. Perry Appoints Five to OneStar National Service Commission

In the State of Texas, members of the OneStar National Service Commission are chosen by appointment.  According to the Office of Governor Rick Perry, “the commission works with the OneStar Foundation to further national service initiatives in Texas, and administer the AmeriCorps Texas program.”  More information about the OneStar Foundation and AmeriCorps Texas can be found at http://www.onestarfoundation.org/. 

The Executive Director of the Tyler ISD Foundation, Larry Goddard, is one of five members recently appointed to the Commission.  Larry is the only appointee this year who leads an education foundation.

In addition to being the Executive Director at the Tyler Foundation and a Member of ASFA’s Honorary Advisory Committee, Larry is an International Development Advisor to the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Education Foundation Chairman of the Texas School Public Relations Association.   Larry also has affiliations with the Tyler Boy Scouts of East Texas, the Tyler Texas Industrial Board, the Hispanic Family Assistance Center of Tyler and a past member of the Texas A & M University of Commerce Association of Former Students’ Board of Directors.

Larry’s appointment to the OneStar National Service Commission is in effect through March 15, 2014.
