- An understanding that a mini campaign using a major gifts approach can be used to launch the foundation
- An understanding that the annual fundraising is the second stage of the continuum and it is multi dimensional
- An understanding that the sustainability campaign is used to raise endowment funds and should be developed when the foundation has had success in stages one and two
